Leaving a bequest in your Will is relatively straightforward and you can do so without having any financial implications for you during your lifetime.

If you are leaving an inheritance to your family, we highly recommend telling your loved ones of your decision and seeking legal advice. Communication with your family will ensure your final wishes are carried out.

There are steps and things to consider when making a bequest:

  • Make or update your Will: We recommend using a solicitor to ensure you Will is legal and valid. It is an important document and one that must be properly planned and executed, and your solicitor can advise you on the different types of gifts.
  • Decide your gift: There are different ways you can leave your charitable gift to Amaranth, and is dependent on your circumstances.
    • You can choose to a leave a share of your estate, also known as a residuary gift. It could be a percentage, or the whole residue of your estate.
    • You may choose to leave a fixed sum of money, also known as a pecuniary gift (an exact sum of money).
    • A specific gift, also known as a specific bequest. This could be in the form of real estate, or an item such as art, or jewellery. This item is sold with the funds supporting our foundation.
  • Talking to your loved ones: Your loved ones have spent a lifetime with you and like you, want your final wishes to be carried out as you desired. We really believe the key to this is communicating with them and ensuring they know what is in your Will. We also recommend advising any executors and guardians of your wishes.
