Community Nurse

I’m Sharon a Registered Nurse. I have a Bachelor of Nursing, Graduate certificate in Acute Care Nursing – Advanced Disease Management, Advanced Life Support, Nurse Immunisation Certificate and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

I have a long and varied nursing background beginning my career in the early 1980’s at Concord Hospital in Sydney. Along the way I have worked in many places and organisations mostly in the public health system in medical and surgical nursing and more recently nursing education. My passion is in chronic and complex disease processes and management. It is very important to me that holistic healthcare is the focus at all times and that all people
involved in the journey understand what their needs are.

At Amaranth I am able to support both the client and the staff to gain knowledge in body systems and disease processes and how important these are for day to day functionality and quality of life. I have strong communication and advocacy skills as well as clinical skills including thorough patient assessment, extensive medication knowledge, wound management, continence and catheter care and end of life care just to name a few. My education background enables me to share these skills where appropriate and mentor and facilitate skill development within the team.

I enjoy very much working in our very diverse community and consider myself to be very privileged to be a part of the journey and making a difference in people’s lives.

Relaxation with Kellie

Harmony and Relaxation

Reiki is an alternative form of healing that arose in Japan in the late 1800’s. It is a complementary therapy. It is safe, painless, non-invasive, does not interfere with other medical treatments and it promotes balance of the body, mind and spirit.

Reiki involves the transfer of universal energy through the laying on of hands. Reiki brings peace and calm to the body and mind. It helps to restore and balance the body’s natural energy systems allowing the opportunity for the body to heal itself.

Slow Flow Yoga is a low impact practice. Postures are held for longer and are practiced at a slower pace than traditional Vinyasa yoga. There is a strong emphasis on the connection of the movement of the body and the breath. Slow flow gradually warms up the muscles and joints, it allows for the body and mind to remain in a state of rhythmic calm.

The slow pace is cooling on the body and mind. The slower movement also assists with the postures to be practiced with correct alignment. The benefits of slow flow are abundant. Regular practice helps with joint mobility, stretches and strengthens the muscles, benefits the major organs, improves digestion and circulation and helps to reduce stress and anxiety.
